i was woundering my plants are gonna be in 3 gallon buckets and i'll have them on a 400 watt HPS im only gonna grow 3 seeds.(yes i know i should start with a lil more for germination ratio but im only doing 3) how much water should i give then when i do water? on avg. of course no one know for sure but for a 3 gal. APPROX. how much water. and is 400watt gonna be enough for 3 plants?

400 Watt is awesome for three plants... cuz thats assuming all of them make it and all of them are female, you might only end up with one who knows... not that i wish that upon you or anything...

i highly suggest using cfls for veg because the hps is WAY too much for seedlings and young plants

as for watering every plant is differnet, and it depends on the soil you use and what not

i recommend picking up your pots and feeling how heavy they are right before a watering... then water your plants untill you get sum runoff coming out the bottom, not alot, just keep watering 1 cup by 1 cup untill you see sum runoff
then pick up your pots again and see how heavy they are... big difference... and once youve been weighing them a while youll be able to tell when they need water, also if you can stick your finger half way down in the soil and feel damp soil you dont need to water, you want your plants to be almost starting to be deprived of water before you water em again, atleast during veg anyways cuz that will promote stronger root growth sending those roots searching for the water and all.

dont give any nutrients to your plants untill there alteast a month old


now with flowering its alittle different you plant is huge by now and using alot more water than before for flowering so you can water it every 2 days, every 1 day even depending on how thirsty she is

in a 3 gallon pot in flowering, I give each plant about a half gallon of water M - W - F.

yo, i got 16 mother plants in 2 gallon pots, this is what i do, i fill up two litters of water, twice and i divided evenly, i dont soak up the soil cuz it doesnt run out to the bottom, and i do that every other day, i would say fill a litter and divided evenly in the three, by the time u will know by instinct how much to water and whe, i think its a grower instinct
