ok, something is wrong with my plants! their stems are turning a little brownish, and the leaves have some brown spots. Especially the first leaves, the two at the bottom of the plants, are dead looking. Can anyone tell me what i need to do to revive them? They are just over 2 weeks old, and have been growing in my aerogarden. Here are the conditions my plants are living in:
5 plants, just over 2 weeks old
they received the first starter nutrients when i started them up. since then i have not given them any aerogarden nutrients.
instead, i am using foxfarms grow big 6-4-4 nutes, and gave them to my plants yesterday. one and a half tsp. after i refilled my reservoir.
i am using bottled distilled water
my lights have been on 18hrs and off 6hrs, cause i have them set to the herb/basil setting.
i bought a timer thingy from Radioshack and tried to switch the lights to 12on 12off but the damn thing won't override the aerogarden's built in timer. i am in the process of thinking of a plan b.
i had generic mylar paper stuff (poly something foil looking wrapping paper that i bought from walmart) and put it up on the back and sides of the aerogarden for a week or so.
today i took the paper off and figured my white walls in my closet would reflect enough
i raised my lamp up a notch from the very bottom cause i thought my plants might be getting burned.
i have a pH tester that reads 4.5-9.0, and dropped in one drop of pH decreaser, and now my plants have a pH level of 5.8
my fan is constantly on in my bedroom, on low speed
my air conditioner has been broken for a few days and i just got it fixed, but the temperatures in my house were so extreme that we had to stay in a hotel. im pretty sure the temp was around 120 degrees inside my house for a few days while we were gone, and there was no air circulating.

considering all these circumstances (I think i listed them all), can someone please tell me what i need to do to revive my brown spotted plants?
i have read so many threads and still havent figured out what exactly i need to do.

any advice would be greatly appreciated!

dont worry about brown spots on lower leaves....it is a very common occurence and usually results in no loss of yield....

As long as it is still growing and producing new growth, then it is fine...

peace

68 at all times eh? never heard that, but it makes sense, nothing too hot or too cold. thanks!
by the way, does anyone know where to purchase a timer that will override the timer in the aerogarden, and what is it called? i have been to home depot, walmart, and radioshack and havent found a timer that could work with the aerogarden?

ok here are some pics of my 2 1/2 week old plants from my aerogarden. honestly, HOW DO THEY LOOK? im a virgin like i mentioned before (when it comes to growing plants, that is lol)

i think they look like crap cause of the brown spots.
what do i do? they are getting enough air circulating.
i dont want to pull them

i have posted their living circumstances in above thread post. i forgot to mention that i have an air stone sitting in the bottom of the reservoir as well.

They look pretty good to me....a little stretched, just keep the light as close as possible....i'm talkin like an inch away from the plants if possible...thats where extra CFLs come in handy....

Good job, like I said before dont worry about those brown spots....most people end up worrying too much about them and do somthing drastic and that ends up fuckin em....

If theyre growing then you have nothing to worry about....

Get those lights closer! and get some extra...

Peace
