Hydro Question

I'm trying to learn as much as I possibly can about growing before I decide to grow. One thing I can't decide is whether or not I want to try an aeroponic setup or regular soil. I have a couple questions..

1. How often does the water need to be changed in a res?
2. What will produce a higher yield? I'm not looking for crazy numbers but the more the better.
3. Would one be better than the other if growing in a small area like a closet?
4. Overall which would be cheaper?

Thanks I appreciate it. I'm low on cash but I wanna get the feel of growing , gotta start somewhere right? I think I might build some type of stealth box and grow a plant or two using soil first before I break the bank.

should change res minimum once per f/night and top up every day with fresh water if you left it till it was empty nutrient strengths would go through the roof.

soil will be the cheapest it will also be the slowest.

a hydro setup to go in a closet is not going to break the bank you would get away with a 4 pot system for around $100 if you go to your local hardware shop and set it up yourself.

hydro might be a lil more expensive up front (not much) but it pays off with faster growth and MORE yeilds FOR SURE i got a couple links that will help ya.
