Ezhydrokit 6pack questions

I purchased this setup in 04. Did one grow, made numerous mistakes. Now I look at this system and question its design. Could some of you hydro pros tell me if this is a system that will work. Here are some of my questions concerning this setup. Check out the pics and u will see what I mean.

1. Is there enough root space for the plants in this setup. The pots are 2 inches from the end of the tray and 5 inches in between. The whole tray is 5 inches wide, 3 inches deep, 24 inches long.

2. On the drain end of the res the tubing sits at a downward angle. Seems to me this would slow draining.

I grew once in this thing. It was my first grow of skunk #1. I was a nervous newbie and over analyzed my grow. I started my seeds in here, vegged , and flowered. Had to pluck 5 males so I had 1 girl standing alone. (should put clones in or female seeds to eliminate this next time)

I dont know about that flood and drain system as I know fuck all about that type of setup ,Refering to space required for roots that is ...
But as a Plumber that angled pipe wont be a drama due to it can only hold so much water (nute) before it over flows and spills back into your res ...

If it were mine I'd cut the pipe and have it on a slight angle downwards ...
