well in an aeroponic setup the sprayers spray the roots but my question is should the sprayers spray constantly or should they be on a timer and for how long on and how long off?

Ideally, one minute on and four minutes off ... during the light's on cycle only. No spraying when the lights are off. There is a timer that you can buy at your hydro store that automatically does the one minute on, four minutes off ... BUT they sell for around $85. You can buy a cheaper timer and go like five minutes on, fifteen minutes off.
