Hi all,
I'm new 'round here and am just going into flower on my first grow. I currently have 3 Grape Ape honeys in a recirculating DWC setup under 1000 watts of MH. They're about 5 weeks old now(vegetating, not counting rooting/early seedling) and each fills a 3 gallon bucket with roots(switching to 5gals tomorrow). Above ground, they're about 2ft tall and 2ft in diameter, as I've topped and trimmed them through out the grow and today cleared 'em all out and evened the canopies. I'll try to load pics and start a grow log tomorrow.
I've come across people mentioning using ultrasonic foggers with DWC, but I assume the foggers cannot be submerged, correct? Has anyone around these parts tried something such as this or know anything about foggers?
Few more quick questions if you don't mind. I've been tossing Piranha/Tarantula/Vermi-T(Mychorrizal innoculants mainly) straight into my reservoir. From what I can tell it seems to be working as I have a bit of tan foam around in my reservoir and buckets and my roots have certainly gotten a lot bigger/healthier. Anyone know how to tell for sure?(I don't have any sort of scope/loupe yet, unfortunately)
Alright last question for now, when I transition to flowering, is it important that the plant get a full 12 hrs the first night? I'm almost sure I can accommodate my plants, just wanna double check.

nutes and those fogger floating things dont go together as much....however....they are very efficient for cloning!!!!!!

im running a DWC with a fogger setup right now... from what i can tell it is definately helping more than it is hurting anything. its really good for initial root development. and i have heard something about the diff. parts of the roots look for and absorb different things. and the part of the root mass that is usually not submerged supposedly seeks and absorbs nutes... if this is true, then the fogger should be crazy beneficial. just be sure to watch rez. temperature and pH as the fogger will increase both steadily...

JordanTheGreat: Hmm, sounds killer. Are you getting tons of little 'feeder' roots? I have a ton of very fine roots in my buckets but I've seen other peoples' roots that look so fine its like mold. I'm changing to 5gal buckets tomorrow but I don't think I'll have room in them for a fogger this time around. I hope to be able to try one in a few weeks on my next run. I'll probably start with 3 gal buckets again but end with something tall. I need to find some unorthodox bucket size like 9.5gal. Any pics of your roots and how you have the fogger situated? Any more info you could give me on what foggers to look into, brands, how much they're heating your roots(a guess) would be great.

dont waste your time with foggers....especially on bigger plants.


they will get fucked up b/c of the nutes and they will heat your nute soup too hot

yea, my shit gets purrdy hot sumtimes, but i found that if i keep the rez full and air it out a couple times a day everything runs cool enough... most of the root s in mine rest in the solution anyway, im keeping the fog on because i feel like its helping still

I use them for clones or seedlings in my dwc until the roots are long enough to reach the reservoir water level.

Knally: Great pics and great looking plants, man. Those are some chronic roots! I've been wanting to build a cloner, but haven't wanted to lay out the money for an aeroponic pump. I might have to pick up a fogger and tupperware soon, that looks really great.
