Default why on gods very green earth
why do you people use huge 15g or bigger gallon totes growin DWC it seems there are enough problems as it is with with the flux in ph and parts, a few weeks ago I started one just one plant to see these freakish grow habits and I have already found an upsetting fact, all the water you have to use to keep using I know that some of you dont have a prob. with your RO filter but I buy mine yes I have a RO but for some reason my water bill went so high I just decided to buyI was fishing around to see how how small a bucket w/ lid I could find,,,,,1 and 2 Gallon Black Plastic Pails - US Plastic Corporation,,
there it is is there some reason why I should'nt use this 1 or 2 gallon bucket I could imagine if the plant got to big it could tip can anyone give a lil advice on why I should stay with this 5 gallon hog or would it be more efficient to use a smaller bucket

the size of the bucket determines the size of the plant, you must have had some monster plants or an insane underground leak for your water bill to have gone up that much.

smaller pots will restrict root growth, and so also water intake. you will end up with small plants also, and a small harvest.

I do not use DWC, but from reading I recall that people claim that 2.5g buckets per plant is do-able.

Default thanx for the quick reply
Im not sure why but the water bill was over 300$ in less than a month .
and the bucket I was thinking about getting were black 2 gallon buckets with lids , Im already sick of burning thru 15 gallons for a plant it just doesnt seem feasible .
Props to deep water in all but the bucket is too much to fill thru the week and every 7 days

I am fairly new to this all but from what I understand(feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) but those will work fine. You will not be able to develop the root mass of a plant grown in a larger bucket(provided other factors allowed such rooting to occur). I actually used 3 gallon buckets and my plants have filled them in just over a month and I am moving up to 5 gallons but your plants may not need to grow so large or for such a long time. One thing to keep in mind however, is that the roots DO have an annoying tendency to clog up your drain line.... I'm looking into some sort of filter or cover for my drain line on each bucket.

I have 30L buckets filled to 25L. I have 4 plants in each bucket. I change them out every 10 to 14 days. no problems except PH, which need checking every day or two. Next Time I will use 1 big container so that PH is more stable.

Don't know why your water bill is so high. Glad I don't have one!

Im thinking the only reason the bill could got out of hand is because I have a 25gpd RO I thought it was odd the pressure reads 62 sometimes 66.
I really am tryin to find a more intelligent system for the area Im in, I have gone thru a 4x4 ebb and flow, to an aeroflo 36(which I like but the blue stone pump just doesnt give the fine mist) and now I have hydro farm drip buckets and would love to convert the drip buckets to DWC buckets because they would need more care and less water
