Default Here's a good reason not to use tap water

Just got a TDS meter the other day....

After calibration, my tap water comes to about 1000 PPM. Thats a huge amount compared to distlled at around 3 PPM and RO at around 30 PPM.

I'm glad I stopped using my tap water!!

my unsoftened public water is ph~8.5 and TDS~100ppm

when i get the ph down to 5.2-5.3, TDS is ~400ppm

i should get some distilled water

100ppm should be ok, why so low on the pH?

i'm doing a deep water culture.

my difficulty is that pH is constantly rising, so i aim low. within a day or so, pH is back up to 6.5+

i was having a problem with keeping my res. stable when using tap water. Switched to bottled distilled for 40 cents a gal, been happy ever since.

Well, I guess you guys are smarter than me. My tap water is 8.2 and 500ppm and I've haven't had any problems using it for the last 60 hydro crops.

Using Sydney's evil 200-400ppm @ 7.1-8.0 municipal tapwater, I've done about 192 crops of 23 plants (4416 plants) in the last 8 years.

Somebody HEP ME! HEP ME!

And won't someone tell the fraudsters to stop selling those damn calcium & magnesium supplements (eg Cal-Mag) to all those who have paid heaps to remove the Ca & Mg with RO to drop their ppm?

My tap water is 10ppm with a PH of 7-8. After adjusting PH, is about 40ppm. Luckly I assume this means I don't need to use RO

Well sure glad I dont own one of them fancy meters. If I was buying distilled water I would already have about 5 k invested in the grow..and I am only raising two habanero peppa plants. Sure feel sorry for the folks who do it for a living.
