I did hydro on my last grow and what I learned is....
it takes up more room than dirt... if you loose power things get bad quick.... more equipment...more nutes...more of everything... |

Recirculating hydroponic systems allow you to get more oxygen to the roots than in soil or wick pots/hempy buckets. This promotes quick and vigorous development of the rootmass- the rest of the plant will follow. The more O2 to the roots, the better, whilst still keeping them moistened, of course.
Flood/drain systems where plants are in pots of absorbent media (ie rockwool, Fytocell) are not fussed by power outages. However, bongspit is too right if commenting on DWC/bubbler ops. They ARE in big trouble should AC power be lost (or if the air pump fails or bubble curtain clogs with nute residue) as roots are constantly submerged and require a 24/7 air feed. 1) No pests brought in by soil
2) HUGE growth rate 3) No lugging/disposal of soil 4) Never over water 5) Perfect nutrient measurements 6) Exact PH 7) No salt build up I use 100% organic nutrients at 2900 PPM. If you tried that kind of concentrations in soil you would fry the plants. |

2)I did DWC and dirt at the same time and they were fairly equal in growth rate.. 3)ok 4)ok 5)maybe 6)no rpoblem with soil... 7)I thought thats why you fluch the system... mine was 18 gallon...there is nothing easy about changing out 18 gallons of water...everything I have seen here suggest 1200-1450-ppm during flower...2900 seeems high... |

It's easier (my opinion) I started growing hydro, never gave dirt a thought. Why deal with the mess and mixing and watering. I did a ebb and flow set up because I travel. I just got back from a 5 day trip, my plants doubled in size, they were not checked on for 6 days. I run 2 cabinets, planned them, built them, dialed them in and I'm done. Each week I refill the rez check ppms and ph for each one and adjust lighting.
