Hello everybody,

I am a new patient to medical marijuana, hence this is my first real stab at growing marijuana. I decided to use the aero garden after seeing the late night paid advertising bullshit and thought, I can use that for medicine. Anyway, I bought the aero garden deluxe 200 and immediately saw that the water needed aeration, so i bought a small aquarium air pump, along with an airstone. I bought 3 shiva skunk, 2 purple kush, and 2 bubblegum clones from the Oaksterdam dispenery in Oakland. I planted the 3 shiva's on 04/22/08, the 2 purples on 04/28/08 (tiny clones), and the bubblegums on o5/04/08. I have the intention to keep all 7 plants vegetative until the bubblegums have grown at least 6 nodes. OK, What I did....I got some liquid ironite with a mix of 7-6-6. This claims to be for indoor and outdoor plants. The directions said to use 1-1/2 tablespoons per 5 gallons. I used 1/2 tablespoon. I also got this shit called SUPERthrive. This says it's a fertilizer additive. The directions said to use 1 ml per gallon. I used that quantity.

I changed thewater on 04/28 using distilled water and the aformentioned nute cocktail.... i watched eagerly to see my garden grow, yet after some days, the leaves grew brown spots and began to curl under. After looking at my notes, I noticed I doubled the ingredients to the nute cocktail...So today, i took all the plants out of the tray, emptied the filmy reservoir, and flushed it out. I also noticed I clogged the wter pump. I rinsed it out and ran clean water through the pump to clear it. I then rinsed all the ladies roots with bottled drinking water. I then re-filled the reservoir with bottled drinking water and no nutes. I'm going to run these ladies one watering cycle (7 days) with only bottled drinking water. I didn't use distilled water, because I know there are no suspended metals in distilled water. I knew spring water might be ok, but I don't have a relyable ph and ppm testers, so I chose bottled drinking water. I put all the ladies back into the reservoir and started it back up. I added two 26 watt cfl's, one on either side, respectively. Also I bought a red-blue LED light bulb, and placed that a few inches over my drooping bubblegum baby. So that's where I am. quite an eventful first couple of weeks. I know these babies are gowing to want more water than this reservoir can hold. I'm thinking of a good way to drip supplamental water in from another source. I'll keep yiou posted.

I'll attach photos from today some other time, I have pix,but i have to edit them down to upload on the site, and I spent more time on this tonight than I wanted to. Imma go blow some smoke on these ladies. I look forward to hearing back from you guys. I'll post pix, promise.

It's only been a few days since I received the LED grow light from OpenDNS and the ladies seem to be growing towards that particular light. I'm becoming a believer in the science of not giving a plant green light. It may be the nute burn I gave these girls last week, or having the cfl's too close to the plants. I moved the cfl's all up about a foot. We'll see if i can get them to stretch out a bit. They're rather squatty still. Bye for now...

Is all lost? I took down the mylar. I took a temperature of the grow box,and it was up to 91 degrees!!! I took down the mylar at once. I'm convinced this red/blue filtration is the key, so tomorrowi'm going to make some red/blue light filters for my 2 cfl lamps and the main aero hood. I'll look at the dollar tree or something...I have also come upwith a design in my head for a quality, homemade grow box, on a budget. Here are my not so beauties.

Can someone please help???

All is not lost! I noticed the roots and stem bottoms were resting water, already causing some root rot. I emptied the garden's reservoir to half capacity (about 2 qts.). I raised the hood and all the lights up the full 24" the garden allows for. I'm going to take the hood off the telescopic arm and hang it from chains, after i rig up a filter. I'm going to start building the new garden once i get it all drawn in CAD. Then I will be able to supply you all with a materials list and a fully dimensioned and detailed drawing and materials list. There's not too much of a hurry...I won'tbe able to plant until i can salvage this crop. The ladies are already perking up. It's taken a few weeks, but ok i now do believe the roots shouldn't be completely submerged in water. I'm learning...slowly but slowly i'm getting it. Now since I'm onlyusing half the water, I'll be changing water twice as much. maybe i'll nute about a 1/4 the recommended amount and take note....i do wanttogetthis new garden workingsoon though...i'd like toturn off the aerogarden's pump, and pipe in water from the other garden's pump and reservoir. i'm medicated enough. i'm gonna go watch the science channel.....bye for now

Well I've abandoned the AG. I'm going to use it to start clones and seeds. I have constructed a new flood and drain system using pvc fence posts. this system seems to be far superior. My shiva skunks have almost doubled in size. My PK's and bubblegums died. It looks like the shivas were a lot more dominent, and the others didn't really have a chance to root well. I'll keep to one strain at a time. Let that be a lesson to you all.

I don't know what else to say.404 Error as young as those are and the potential you have to make those things look like donkey dicks in first weeks of veg. in aero garden .....well I don't know what you're doing wrong?? Keep it simple in those little things! They look really yellow.......step your lighting up!

well remember that the plant can only grow as big as its resevor too it only has a gallon as far as a resevorso its awesome too grow three plant in the back row of it but also space'em out (the back pod on the left, the on in the center and the one in the far back to the right.) i think you tried to grow too much in the little thing.

I dont believe your statement. if thats the case than you aouldnt be able to grow out of pvc.. Ive seen pvc steups with 6 inchs in diameter grow 2 ft+ tall

i ditched the aerogarden months ago. i built my own planters out of pvc fence posts. that's working well, but on my next grow, i'll be buying a tray and res. next time i'm doing it right with grow cubes and flood and drain.

You really CANNOT plan to grow 6 large plants through their Flowering cycles. The aerogarden is ideal for 1-2 plants that will flourish. If you have more space, the aerogarden can be used as a clone starter where they mature and are moved into a 12/12 are like a SOG (Sea of Green) method.
