I'm planning on growing using the Deep Water Culture method. The main question I have is I was planning on using CO2 and I heard that proper ventillation is a must for using DWC. So what would be the best way to go about ventillating the room and using CO2?
Side Question: How early should I start using CO2 with my plants? How late?

You will want to put your exhaust/intake fans on timers so theu are not running when your CO2 generator is. The information I have looked at pretty much says good controls are a must.

getting good controls aren't a problem, but I'm not sure as to what sort of time cycle to set them on. I guess maybe I could run the A/C into the room for a short while before running the CO2. I mean don't you think fresh air would be kind of irrelevant if you're running CO2?

There will be no problems at all using co2 with a carbon filter.
When you use the extractor fan though your going to be sucking it all back out again, so if you want to ideally refill the room with fresh co2 just after you finished venting so that it has the maximum amount of time in there The formula for working out how much co2 to use is in this thread blackout |

Sorry to post on someone else's thread, but nongreenthumb, do you think you could tell me more about cO2 supplements. What do they do? Do they increase the heat in your grow room? Can I not have ventilation and cO2? Sorry, I'm kind of clueless.

There is about 0.03- 0.04% c02 in the air we breath. Rapidly growing marijuana can use up the c02 in a grow room within a few hours.
By increasing the percentage to 0.12 -0.15 % plants will grow upto 2 or 3 times faster providing other factors such as light, water and nutrients are not limiting. Co2 does not show any significant improvements under fluroscent tubes or low watt cfls as they do not put out sufficient lumens to process the extra. Co2 does not increase the thc content, but it does increase the amount of foliage, so it will give you a larger volume of thc. Co2 enriched marijuana demands a higher level of maintenance that normal plants, they can use upto double the amount of nutrients water and space. A higher temperature of around 85 deg f, will help simulate more rapid metabolism within the enriched plants. |

i was thinking about this myself.... My main question is why do you vent a room ??? i thought it was to remove heat mainly!! With that being said what if you have a A/C, De-humidifier, circulating fan and add CO2 in a airtight growroom. You wouldnt need to vent more than twice a day if that much. Because you would have created a perfect enclosed environment. That just my take on the situation.... Purple i think you might be good with vent twice a day if you have a A/C for heat control hence saving alot of CO2... I'm a noob so listen to the pro's just trying to think logical...i
