so after my third failure at this AG thing i am finally giving up on all the technical shit and just completely winging it.

think most of my problem was getting too complicated right off the bat so heres what i did:

first i scrapped anything that was growing.
second i took new seeds and placed them into the USED foam i just cleaned.
did not actually clean the foam i just removed anything growing and immediately put in new seeds to germinate IN THE AG. put on plastic covers and covered those with black duct tape.

third i went to local petco and hit their fish department for an air pump. got a tetra ultra quiet 10gph and a 6 inch air stone. BUT the pump was not powerful enough to utilize air stone completely. SO i went and got a four inch stone and a package of 4 mini stones with a "regulator".

i tried the 4 inch but did not like it. i hooked up the 4 mini and placed 2 near the front and 2 near the back. i like this better.

fourth i have not changed the res. in fact i never changed the res from the last failure. i only add water. (nestle pure life bottled water or some of my well water as i not hooked up to town.)

fifth i opened the door on the res and taped it open. with the air now blowing bubbles i have increased the humidity. not sure how much but it must have gone up.

i have only recently in the last 2 days checked ph. and now have it adjusted close to 5.5

i just checked my ppm and it is at 451.

from looking at my biggest candidate 2 days ago, i decided to add a little nute to the res. i used approx. 1/8 the recommended strength.

ppm jumped from 75-150 to 400 ish. hence the "451" reading i got today.

so i started with seven seeds and only 2 worked.
i replaced the ones that didn't work and got a couple more to sprout.
i replaced the ones that didn't and got another to sprout.
right now i have 6 out of 7 and i just planted another seed in the 7th spot.
i want 7 candidates because i expect to lose some to gender issues.

hoping i can get to a 2 or 3 plant SOG setup for a 2 weeks rotation as explained by al b fuct i think.

seeing as this is for entertainment purposes only, any comments, questions or suggestions on my fantasy?

if my seedlings started to stretch i removed the pod and reset the plant in the foam to sit lower and replaced the covers without any tape.

I just started my first AG grow on the 1st and just dropped a seed in each well. All have sprouted and are growing every time I check on them. I'm not using any air pumps or duct tape, just plastic wells and the AG light, and the reccomended nute dose that the system came with. So far so good for mine and I'm hoping it continues that way.

the airstone is a good add. your going to need it later because the roots WILL clog up the pump and you will need it to circulate the water. you will prob want to try and sex early if you and going to fill all the slots because the Ag will only support 1-2 full grown fems

first, thanks for the responses and your time.

second, i actually bought this AG back in mid dec. as a from me to me christmas gift. an effort to break the cycle of paying.

i opened it, replaced seeds in pods with mine and put in on the shelf.
it started to work, but it was out in the open. so decided i needed more privacy and threw together a small area in the attic with pretty much what i had lying round the house.

so needless to say, i have read alot of info on this site and try to do so before posting questions.

yes the air stone is good idea.
yes i plan on sexing early like next week or two depending on the last sprout and its size.
yes i will move the lights closer and setup a hanging system next cycle of lights on.
and the black duct tape was a combo idea. (trying not too follow)

i read germination by paper towel and two plates. this works wonderfully well. keep moist, dark and warm.

i also read peeps are having luck with using the AG for seed germination. BUT there is light that can be received by the foam at this point.

hence black duct tape to keep out light and let seeds germ in the AG. is easy and not much of a big deal. put in on the list of things duct tape can do. the wonder tool. (go red green)

also i will point out that some of my seedlings have stretched a little at the beginning due to my light height. i have taken out the pods and recessed them down alittle in the foam. sometimes i need to pull the roots out of the foam and then recess them alittle further. I HAVE HAD NO ILL EFFECTS BY DOING THIS. it may not be right but screw it. they are growing.

and as a matter of fact i plan on setting up another spot right next to the one i have and moving the AG there to run 1-3 mother plants and use the first area with my hps to run the clone/flower rotation.(sog)

Damn I haven't thought that far ahead yet haha but I'll get it down hopefully. Yea my plants seem to be stretching to like you suggested because of the light. Maybe I'll try your method on the two that seem to be the longest.
