So anyways I personally have always completely started fresh each week (clean 5 gallon bucket and fresh nutrients) however people I know just add water and nutes to their buckets so is that a problem? Won't it fuck up pom etc?

So when they get big and are drinking down 1/2 the bucket capacity daily do you change them out daily? No problems with topping off and adjusting ec (ppms) and ph. (I'm assuming that's what you meant by "pom"?)

I change my water out every other week unless I have recently used a nutrient that requires the water to be changed. IE: House and Garden's Top Booster

I know there are people who never change it or who change it once or twice the entire grow but I don't like not knowing what is in my water.

Whatever works for you, but as long as you have a ppm and ph meter to make the proper adjustments you'd be fine just topping off and only doing complete changes every week or two (or longer if you really want to push it). My only suggestion is to run beneficial bacteria as a preventative if your not already, or run it sterile, your choice.
