Anyone in here use the K.I.S.S/Lucas formula in DWC?

Great thread i stumbled upon on another site (http://www.icmag.com/ic/showthread.php?t=191645), was wondering if anyone here has used it on DWC and if so whats your thoughts?

quick breakdown of it...

Lucas Formula (.com!)

If you don't know yet, Google it! Enlighten thyself to the world of simplicity! Most people know Lucas as two of the three part GH Flora Series...however, what most people don't know is that they are paying for H20! That's right, most of the liquid GH is I believe distilled water.

The Method

MaxiBloom is a little known additive from GenHydro. However with further inspection, this 'additive' has everything the plant needs. Nothing more in your water than:

1 TEAspoon MaxiBloom
pH Calibration***
Per US gal. tap water

***(This varies depending on region, test pH amounts for YOURSELF! 1/2 Tsp pH UP works for me!)

How To Completely Dissolve

Fill Mason Jar half full of hot water (Glass not plastic!)
Empty measured/weighed Maxi into Mason Jar
Shake for at least 5 min. (You don't have to shake it hard, it just takes time. So get comfy!)
Pour solution into mixing bucket
Fill to desired amount and away ya go!

BE SURE TO KEEP AN EYE ON RUNOFF pH...adjust accordingly...

That's it. Your plants will love it. Your pocketbook will love it.

I know people that do more with this shit, than most people do with 20 products, snake oils, and potions...Hoodoo!

I use it. Here are my two cents. The large amount of bloom used drives the PH down in DWC. This is strange because when I used lucas in Drip and Ebb & flow, the PH climbed during flowering, with DWC it drops, so strange.

The PH dropping is a good thing for one reason, you can use a potassium based PH up. Potassium is the best blossom booster you can get. Potassium silicate, potassium hydroxide or potassium carbonate are all soluble fertilizers and will give you more weight. I prefer the potassium carbonate because it's cheap, its a hydroponic fertilizer, it is very strong (a little goes a long way) and it stablizes PH like nothing I have seen before. I don't need any PH adjustment for almost a week when I use it, awesome stuff.

They do better at lower PPMs. I run them at 1000 PPM while they are stretching (the first three weeks, or 40% of the total flowing time) then 800 PPM for the rest of the flowering period.

I make my own lucas, as an A + B formula at a 1:1 ratio. I can post the recipe if you like, cost 5$ a gallon to make your own. I see no difference between the homemade kind and the store bought. My friend swears the homemade stuff is better, he calls it rocket fuel, but I see no difference myself.

Thanks GreenThumbSucker! your info helped a lot. I'm looking forward to trying the lucas formula on my girls asap. What was the homemade stuff made out of? Would love to know.

Potassium carbonate is the best PH stabilizer I have ever used. I use it now for PH up and my PH stays stable and in range for 5-7 days off one shot. By all means, get some..

My last 2 runs were DWC 5gal Drip ring Waterfarm clones, running in a small wardrobe. (~28inWx18inDx60inH)
I kept careful records, and used the Lucas Formula (8ml/16ml Micro/Bloom). With R/O water 8/16 took me to ~5.2pH.
In veg I let it tick upwards til 6.3pH til using the add-back formula. Never dumped a reservoir once.
About mid-flower pH started dropping, roots browned SLIGHTLY, and all I did was add 22% H202 at 1.5mL/gal
which brought the pH up (without any pH up/used H202 to maintain water sterility, since I never did any res dumps.)
back into the range I wanted. (5.2-6.3)

Pulled 11oz + 6oz sugar leaves/larf for hash off a SG602 465w Actual Draw LED.

R/O water was considered necessary to ensure proper nutrient ratios and that PPM measurements
were from added nutrients only, and not from the water source. PPMs were kept @ 1250 throughout
grow. I didn't flush the first run, pulled 5.7oz from the mother, then ~5.5x2 +larf from her two clones.
