Default Fog experiment.
HI peoples

I'm going to experiment and attempt a full fogponics grow.

here is what I've come up with so far after a root thru the cellar at work and a bit of a pilfer from a building site rubbish skip.

any help, pointers etc will be helpful.

lol.. had to edit.. I see the fan.. stupid me.
Looks good I sure hope it works out. You know the plants will be ultra sensitive to dry spells right? what water cycle you going to use? 24/7?

water cycle I have yet to figure out, I have a hermie clone that I can try it out with first so I can watch it over a couple of days and tune it.

the fan is a 100mm bathroom extractor, didn't have a brand (we just had them fitted in the hotel I work at so they got a bulk lot) it just states on the fitting instructions 'fully sealed from jets of water in all directions, no need to worry about humidity'

too small of micron will not get nutes and water to the whole root zone, it will be hella dense!!!

use fogging as a supplemental device, not stand alone.....

we also have another thread on this....with a few members working on the project...

i blv it is ultrasonic misters!

I red the thread thanks.

This is an experiment to see if fog only is succesful.

as for the fan I found a spec sheet http://www.universalfans.com.au/down...specs_only.pdf

I have to second that. It will not work. I posted a very in depth grow that someone did on another forum. It sounds like a great idea, the problem is as Loud said, there is not enough moisture getting to the roots of a large growing plant. (And we are talking in the Veg stage. Forget flower)

Fogging root systems will not work by itself. Save yourself the effort of a failed experiment. You might get away with combining the Fog and the misters that Filthy Fletch uses, but not fog all by itself.

cool, thanks for that.

so for a 4 plant set up what do we recommend pump capacity wise, is 1400ltr/hour good enough? what timings should I have it on?

was thinking of this one - Age of Aquariums - Products

you just need the right tool for the job..none of the cheap floating shit.
I have seen these in action..

NUTRAMIST MODEL 3 FOGGER
High capacity 3 Head Fogging system

Our Price$369.95
Item #50-3310Quantity

Introducing the Nutramist™
The universal aeroponic fogging sytems that maximize yield, minimize maintenance, and reduce operating costs by providing plant roots with absolute Oxygenation and uptake capacity. Nutramist's multi-micron, cool, dry fog consistently drives the supercharged metabolism of any type of completely soluble nutrients and supplements.
For more information - visit the NUTRAMIST WEBSITE
The Nutramist
Eliminates the recycling of usurped nutrient solution and puts an end to plumbing, pH, PPM, and root pest problems.
Reduces the use of water and nutrients, eliminates the need for bulky growing mediums.
Compact system size makes for more efficient use of space in indoor gardens.
Exclusive three, five and ten-headed nebulizers provide for up to 10x the fog.
Exclusive six-step output control makes for easy management of all sized gardens.
Exclusive Teflon® nebulizers never cake-up, making cleaning a snap.
Automatically regulated nutrient-input enables gravity feeding from any reservoir.
Automatic low-water cut-off protects nebulizer from accidental damage.
Four foot flexible fog-ouput hose and garden-input fitting for quick retrofitting and easy to design custom systems.
These hydroponic foggers & aeroponic foggers are adaptable to many horticultural applications including root fogging, foliar feeding, growroom & greenhouse humidity generation even ultra low volume / ULV pesticide application. These ultrasonic foggers are the ultimate aid to propagation and production as they can be used to create the perfect environment below and above "ground level" for plants to grow.
Our aeroponic foggers offer the exclusive benefit of having teflon coated ultrasonic transducers, specifically designed for use with dissolved nutrient solutions, so they help prevent salt buildup which causes premature failure. This does not mean that our foggers will turn muddy water into mist however! You must NOT use with any nutrients or supplements which are not 100% water soluble and leave no visible residue or the fogger will not operate properly. Ultrasonic foggers will also sterilize your nutrient solution so adding live bacterial cultures will serve no purpose since the NUTRAMIST fogger is already sterilizing your solution for you.
The aeroponic fogger / hydroponic fogger operates by oscillating at a frequency of approximately 2 MHZ which is two million vibrations per second. At this frequency, water is nebulized into a cold fog / dry fog which can support the needs of plants using an ultra low volume / ULV of water and nutrients. Another benefit of our aeroponic fogger / hydroponic fogger is that it generates an extremely small droplet that averages only 4 microns which is small enough to be absorbed by roots and leaves on contact, which is why it can be effective using only an ultra low volume of solution. In fact, most growers report optimal results with only half the concentration of nutrient solution they've used in the past.
There is simply nothing else like it on the market specifically designed for horticultural applications
