I blame the Bud Candy. It's really not appropriate for hydro regardless of labeling. You're feeding bacteria and yeast, and they're partying and sliming.

My recommendations:
1) Wash your roots with water to dislodge the goo, then soak them for a spell in dilute peroxide at the correct strength.
2) Wash your bucket(s) with bleach, then water. Kill everything.
3) Remix your hydro nute but minus sugars. Add some peroxide to inhibit recolonization by scum.

I thought I read soemthing about bleach leaving behind a 'film' of sorts if you don't REALLY wash things and rinse, rinse, rinse.... and that film might be harmful?

I think there's other alternatives to clean/disinfect with... Like high % alcohol, perhaps peroxide itself (they have the real high % stuff but it needs handled carefully &/or diluted)...

And I believe Ona makes a "Ona Bleach" which isn't supposed to leave that film??

I was getting this film too, I started using hygrozyme and it made a world of difference. I also clean my stuff with bleach after I notice the film. I put everything in my Bath tub, put about 10% unscented bleach, scrub everything then rinse like 6 times with hot water. Also make sure when you mix your nutes always mix the micro first for about 5 minutes then add the other stuff 1 at a time with a good 5 minute mix in between. Your nutes can bind and cause a red/brown slime...good luck. Look into hygrozyme, its the best thing i've ever used in my hydro system.

Bleach will leave a residue, but only if you don't rinse. A simple water rinse will remove all bleach and its decomposition product, table salt. cn

Also instead of bud candy..look into powder koolbloom by gh or the liquid kool bloom if your early into flower. The powder is for late flower.
