Whats the best simple and affordable water based nutrient solution to start with? There are so many advanced hydro nutrients, but I'm looking for a basic recipe with ingredients that can be found at a local hardware/gardening store.
Thanks

I bought canna nutes for hydro. A simple 2 part gig. I bought veg nutes and bloom nutes, a bottle of ph down and a ph pen. Didn't need anything else. Having looked at various companies feeding charts, including that from Canna, seems companies are all too eager to get you throwing a whole heap of pointless things into you mixture when there really isn't a need.

Fuck all these kits ^
Lol...
Botanicare pure blend pro is good. one bottle for grow one bottle for bloom.
Fox farm also makes solid base nutes. Grow big (the blue bottle! Not green.) for grow and tiger bloom for bloom.
Dynagrow is also good. foliage pro for grow and their bloom bottle for bloom!
I'd suggest you dont waste money on additives until you understand how to use base nutrients.
Once you get a grow or two under your belt, then try something like a PK booster.
He doesnt need all of the additives in that kit. Also, this is the hydro thread. There are always nutrients in the water.

garden. all purpose and bloom.
every hardware store in america. that shit will grow some nice ganj. mix the two packs together and feed that the whole way through. unless you have some exotic tropical, that mix will work well until you can learn to better dose nutes.
happy growing!

Dyna-Gro Foliage Pro and Bloom + ProTekt(silica) is what I picked and use as a beginner and I think its great. Its so simple to use and super concentrated, I use it in coco drip to waste for moms and in my ebb flow for flowering. the only issues I had with deficiency was due to PH issues with the coco when it dried out because I was out of town for a couple of weeks.
check out Homebrewer's threads, he use to use GH but swithed to Dyna after doing a comparision grow. Then he did a comparision grow with Dyna and Advanced Nurtients.
Dyna-Gro vs General Hydroponics (Dumpster Grow)
Dyna-Gro vs Advanced Nutrients Connoisseur (AK47 Grow)
He does use Dyna-Gro GROW instead of the Foliage Pro version but the only difference is the NPK ratios both are all in one formulas.
