I've done 5 grows with soil and have been quite successful. I am going to switch to hydro for the next grow. I have 4 GH waterfarms I am going to try. My question is I started my clones in soil...am I going to have any problems switching them into clay pellets? Is there any tricks or anything I should know? Thanks

I'm going to attempt the same thing with DWC. I'm sure if you do a few searches, you can find an acceptable answer. Although opinions vary, I've seen a few journals where it has been accomplished. You just gotta be careful. My theory is that if I can gently get as much soil off of the roots without damage, do the transplant, then flood with plain water till all run-off runs clear, I'll be ok. Second part of the theory, is, do it while they are seedlings/young, so that they have a higher chance to recover. I started my seeds in soil~ otherwise I would have gone straight to rockwool, then into pellets.

I have been wondering about this as well but I couldn't find any information on it. So I just took the plunge 2 days ago. All I did was take my clone with root and put it in a bucket with ph'd water. In the bucket I just massaged all the soil out and then placed it in the hydro system. I measured the plant today and it grew about a 1/2" last night....so i guess thats a good sign?

Here's the thing, it is possible. It's just not too practical because you cannot wash off all the soil from the roots because if theres any particle of soil that can containminate your dwc system. If you can wash of all most of the soil you can from the roots and place it into some hydroton so that can it have something to cling to and nurture it till it stop stressing then it is possible. When you look at the netpot with the hydroton and you see white roots(new roots) coming out that means that you're on the right track. Good luck!
