Default aeroponic root growth
i just completed my first aeroponic round
i used a 4x4 fence posts with the 360 degree micro jets on a 1" pvc supply
line on the bottom of the post
i watered continually, except for 20 minutes off every 2 hours
the roots just kept growing
they grew toward the resevior and eventually made their way down into the resevior water
by the end of the round the roots were so thick they actually began to clog the drain to the resevior and back up the water flow
the plants turned out really nice but i'm hoping there is a way to limit the root growth
I speculate they are looking for more water or nutrient
anybody have any ideas?
also, if there is a better irrigation method, let me know

Welcome to the site chongers!

I think you can buy bags that will allow water/nutes through but prevent roots from escaping. I think some of the other growers on this site might use them so hopefully they will add their knowledge.

thanks email468 for the reply
I am looking into the bags
I'm thinking of the 300 micron bags you find in aquarium supply stores

I'd still like to figure out a way to deliver the the water and nutrient
without the 1" pvc inside the fence post

same problem here, or will be soon enough...lol. I used the same posts and the same PVC minus the misters..I drilled 1/4 inch holes and did like a river type DWC. Anyway I have to figure something out soon, so you guys say bags?

I agree root growth is crazy...lol.

The roots just do a real good job of following the flow of the nutes, on my drain tubes to the res, as time goes push them more up into the pvc fence post making your "river" deeper to cover root mass as they get bigger, this is what i do works good, they do get tangled but as long as i can pull them out enough to check my misters im good. i never change anything but my res solution. I run flora nova grow and bloom with florilicious grow and bloom additives. never seen any growth so fast.

my system doesn't seem to have the problem described so i don't use the bags - just remembered reading something about them.
