Yeah, there's a lot of advantage to large particle aggregate as the best medium to flood, those rocks make for some great air spaces that fill with roots. Right now I'm flooding slabs, and that provides lateral area for the roots to fill, but I don't think it's anything like a pot full of rocks. When they become caked solid with roots, and you have to dig the rocks out of the roots.

You notice much of a difference in growth with rocks vs slab? I'm using a slab now and love the ease of it.

I think that I'm growing bigger, stronger plants, with more girth to the stems, and since I space them 3 to a slab, they spread outward some, and produce several massive colas each, and are strong enough to hold that weight.

But, other conditions are better now too. And that would cause better plants. But the area of space that the roots have to spread out, allows the plant to grow really well because of that solid base.

And it's easier than cleaning rocks!

would the roots in the rockwool cube become stems or something? hah
not to worry...I flood my sys every 2 hours...I also start seeds/clones in 1 inch rockwool...as soon as the roots leave the cube it no longer is of significance...mine is somewhere under the hygroton getting wet for 20 min every 2 hours...dont worry, be happy!!
