| | how to feed more air to ur plants in a bubbleponics system.. | | so when i was setting up my bubbleponics system, i happened to notice that the plastic shutoff valve piece the goes between the pump itself and the hose had a small port that was plugged, so (naturally) i unplugged the port and water started spewing out everywhere causing a loss of water pressure too.. no bueno. but i thought "what if you introduce air to the water line at this point, AFTER the pump, so that there are tiny air bubbles in the line feeding the plants"... so i went to walmart and got an aqaurium backflow stopper thingy the prevents water from passing backwards through the line (so that the water doesnt shoot into the air pump instead of the air going into the water line), and when i hooked it all up, it worked! its introducing a medium amount of air, not enough for there to be less water dripping down from the baskets, but enough to definitely be able to see it visually. i tried to include pics of the air in the line but do to the nature of the shot under such bright light it kinda washed out.. but look at the other pics and youll see what im talkin about. ive also got extra air stones in the tank so i've got 3 air pumps total.

| | Nice idea, it's called a venturi hose, I believe, but it's not necessary in a drip system. When that drop falls through the air, and splats onto the rocks, it gets as much aeration as it can. Using air to produce bubbles is for a reservoir, or fishtank, to roil the surface as the bubbles pop, and that aerates the water.
