Default New grower needs help please...
I just recently finished my first grow ever. I had six plants (Hindu Kush, Master Kush Ultra, Bubba Kush, White Widow, Kali Mist, and Trainwreck X Big Bud) under 600 watts of HPS Horticlux light. I used Canna products all the way through in a ebb and flow system. I went 24 hours of light at first and then switched it to 18/6 after two weeks or so. Then I grew them up for another 4 weeks or so, topping them half way through too. As the pistals started showing, I switched to 12/12 and changed my food to the flower products. I then used Humbolt's Bush Master half way through the flower cycle also, which I read, helps plants finish 7-10 days earlier. My question is or my delemia is...I harvested most of my plants at 45 or 46 days of flowering and the Kali Mist was about 5 or 6 days later. I used a 30 times magnifier to look at the trichs and see if they had changed color beforehand. I harvested when most or half of the "hairs" were turned and when about half of the trichs had turned brownish. I am not sure if I harvested too early or what...the buds look good on most of the plants but I just don't know if they might would have gained more water weight or what if I had left them in there longer. Most of my plants were suspose to finish from what the little paper on the side of m clone said, in like 8 weeks...one was 7 and some 9 but most were 8. Has anyone else experienced this or did I screw this harvest up? Well, maybe not screwed it up...cause about half of it is great looking and smokes good too.....???

It sounds like you did a good job.

Not a great job, mind you.

You probably harvested too early, but so do most growers. In future crops you will leave them to mature better, and will see the difference.

I read a great line recently: It's easy to grow pot. It's tough to grow good pot.

Very true...

Hi, Joe ...

If you harvested in 45 days, I'd say you harvested WAY too early. Very few strains would be finished in that short of a time period. Grapefruit or Cindy-99 would be two that just MIGHT be ready in 45 days.

If you would let your plants go to 70 days next time, you will see a big difference. A lot of strains really pack on the weight and bulk out during the last two weeks. Use your 30x scope again next time. When you see the majority of the heads of the tricomes looking cloudy, instead of crystal clear like diamonds, that's the time to take the plants down.

Everything else you did sounds great.

Vi

thanks ViRiedd...you think even doing hydro, that usually finishes faster than soil, and using Humbolt's Own Bushmaster, which also helps plants finish 7-10 days sooner...i will definetly follow your advice though...i had read somewhere on the net before i harvested that the more clear the trichs were when you harvested, the more of a head or cerebral high...so i cut them down at around half way clear and not...my Hindu Kush and Master Kush Ultra came out bomb...i love them...the others came out okay but not great quality...i think next time i will just grow one strain and do it well hopefully...thanks again you guys.....

Default your plant heights
Hi,

With 6 different phenotypes, how did you keep even lighting to all of them?

Your thread was very informative to me.

Thanks all.

i am the biggest noobie to all of this and this was my first grow but as for as i know...if you stick a plant under the light, it grow if you also do the other essential things too...i just grew all six under the same 600 watt Hortilux HPS and got a half pound from six when it was all done...if there is something i did wrong, i am not sure of it except of the early harvest but i am still unsure of that too...I cut them down as they got ready...i looked at all the crystals under the magnifier and cut them down indiviually as they finished...they all are smoking great right now and a lot of people has tried them too...i am happy with it...i will have something to compare it too soon though...i am going to start a new grow tomorrow...wish me luck
