maybe a "recirculating DWC" would be a better discription...

well assuming they are 1 gallon buckets with a pump that is at least 25gph per bucket that means each 1 gallon bucket is getting turned over 25 times an hour. so they're entire bucket is replaced with well aerated water from the reservoir about every 2 1/2 mins.

it is a essentially a bunch of bubble buckets except they're all drinking out of the same reservoir. i called it a dwc/nft hybrid because filthyfetch pointed out that pretty much followed the principle of an nft except it wasn't in a gutter-like setup.

maybe but aren't dwc recirculating anyway? recirculating just means reusing which dwc obviously do so i don't know if that would be any better of a description.

There should be air stones in the pots as well so you can be sure you are getting enough oxygen to the roots. Keep it aerated.

water can only hold a specific amount of oxygen. If you aerate the water to 100% saturation in the reservoir then adding air pumps to the individual buckets is a redundant step.

Since the water in each bucket is replaced approx. every 2 min, the old water is replaced with freshly aerated water approx every 2 min. The "old" water is dumped back into the reservoir where it can be aerated once again.

it wouldn't harm the plants to add air stones to the individual buckets but it won't help, assuming you're fully aerating the water in the reservoir. It's a lot easier to direct my air pump into the reservoir then snake it to each and every bucket.
