Default Advice needed. 6 in block for netpot lid dwc.

Looking for some experience. It is my experience where this is concerned some is needed. Lol.

I am looking to move a 6 inch block of rockwool from ebb and flow into a 8 inch net pot lid. It will fit in the basket and then sit in the five gallon bucket with airstones for some dwc.

I am wondering about how the deeper mechanics of this work. I mean that the roots will grow down into the water I am sure. I am just weary of having to keep the block wet with hand watering.

Can the block with the roots be allowes to dry out once the roots are growing in the water? I am sure before they hit the water for a few weeks I will have to water the block. Once a week really for six inchers if you soak them. lol.

Once this is done can the block be allowed to dry? Will the roots keep it wet? Will it not matter at all and I should just no worry about it?

hello Tea, yes when the roots hit the water and look established then you dont need to worry about keeping the block moist. the roots will bring up the water and nutrients that it needs. On a plant just starting out or barely touching the water, it is still a good idea to keep the block wet. just make sure you have a good air pump and everything is stirring up nicely.

update. I took the six inch netpot and the six inch block of rockwool and shaved the corners with a knife. The clone was well rooted in the block and coming out the bottom.

I then place the water level with regualar veg str solution about an inch below the netpot. I then placed a bubbler in the solution.

I watered the bottom of the cube with a hose a few times. Within a week I have four to five inch long white roots heading out of the netpot and into the water. One is already there. It looks good. Looks like they keep the cube healthy. Plant is in good health and really getting bushy.

I have a 20 watt airpump in the dwc, four buckets to a pump. Two airstones to a bucket. Three buckets converted to dwc and clones coming.

    I love dwc.

My super lemon haze is so big that I am fricking stunned. 3x3 and growing in flower!

This lavender is my donator for my next four crop rotation.
