aerogarden newbie,need some help

hey im new to this site and ive been readin around tryin to find out some shit on the ag, just bought the thing yesterday. i have my seeds germinating right now. i read through the the manual, well somewhat i was smokin a jibba and skipped some shit i think, but i figured ide ask the people on here. whats the best type of water to put in this? is a airrock a good idea? should i change the water everytime i need to put new nutes in? where can i buy a ph tester, walmart? this first try is basically gonna be a test run so im gonna leave the light on the unit,if i grow 4 midgrade plants and grow them as tall as the light, what are we talking smell wise? shoulndt be bad right?

hi there, im using an aero my bf built us. so far the results have been great.
ph tests can probably be bought in walmart, you can even try the aquarium section if no where else and those tests are fairly accurate.
an airstone/rock is a good idea to keep the nutes mixing and the water oxygeonated (sp?).
water should be changed about once a week. wait with the nutes until plants have their first three-set leaves, then start with a lower dose than recommended, slowly building your way up. and yes, when u put in fresh water, put in new nutes.
distilled water is a good idea, either spring water, or pour some water in a container and let it sit overnight or something.

as for smell im not too sure, how many plants? and what kind of light are you using?

thanks for the advice, does anyone suggest what setting i should put it on, i heard herbs are the best.also is there any lights yoy can replace the stock ones with that have more wattage?

I have tried the AG 3 times and they look really good until time to flower and plants double or triple in size during flower, the hole is not big enough for the stem and tank is not big enough for the roots. The herb setting is best, it's 17/7 but really needs to be at least 18/6. There is no setting for flowering which needs to be 12/12. These are are my last attempt and looked great until I started flowering.

I'm trying smaller plants in the Aerogarden. Low Ryder 2's. I'm hoping for good better yeild because it is autoflowering(no 12/12) and is a small plant.

If you go to radioshack, you can purchase a light timer and and a plug that will link your ag to a timer. You'll see it.

hey thanks for the replys, i set the ag up last night with my germinated seeeds. this morining i noticed the light is flickering,has this happen to anyone else and if so what did you do to fix the problem? ide like to fix this problem asap because my buddy might be bringing my over a couple ak 47 clones. thanks

it depends on the strain....

its been a while since ive been on here, my clones are doin very good, roots are developing nicely. these clones were taken while the plants were in flower mode so i was a little scared to try and pull them back to veg. but i did it with 24/7 light and there growin as good as i could imagine. it took about a week and a half to get them rooting but im happy these are some sick strands so the wait was worth it, one of the strands is around 15 years old that a few people have been cloning for years, my buddy has a clone from it and hes growin soil versus my hydro we'll see who does better.

when you change water and clean the ag be sure to clean the sponge filter on the pump

yea i will deff do that, what should the setting be at on the pump, i fucked with it and forget were it was stock. or is there a better setting?

well if i was doing an aerogarden you guys need to train those plants...put up a small screen like 8 inchs above the base and weave the plants in and out of the screen...when it fills up then flower...

hey natural high, what do you mean by that? ive only ever grown outdoors, this is my first indoor op so im new to some shit. my clones are only about 5-6 inches so i could still do it if its def. a good thing to do.

i have grown indoor and outdoor..this last year we did a 300 plant outdoor...right now im working on a 4 foot by 8 foot scrogs ...Google scrog and you will know what i mean..if i had an aero which i will buy in the next few days to show you guys..only have like `1 or 2 plants in there..in a scrog setup one plant per ssfoot....put up a screen like 8 inches from the base..how high can that light go up? make sure the screen is about 1 by 1 inchs or 1 by 2 ...and when the plant reaches it..jsut spread it out underneath and if a top comes out, just redirect it in an area where its empty..when its about 3.4 full switch to flower and you will have a even carpit of buds and noo huge monster thats like in that other pic thats growing into the light....

look at these pics..that is what im talking about..hope that helps...

it looks like the plants and lights are going to join together and fuse into a giant photon shooting hydro monster here to eat our young fertile gonads.

So by scrogging your plant will never exceed the height of the screen? This would be helpful for me, I live in a 1 bed apt at the moment and have very limited space. I was wondering how much space i might take up by doing the scrog method with 1 plant in the ag? would anyone know? Also, I was thinking of using Big Bud strain if that helps any.

thanks natural high for the help. i think i might do that, i have 3 sugar blossom,s going in my ag but i have a good size closet im growing in so that might be benificial for my setup. if you get an ag post some pics on here and show us whats goin on, you seem to definetely kno your shit. thanks
