hey guys ive ordered a hydroponics kit, it'll be here soon!

What i wanted to ask was: i dont really know anything about hydropnics, so would this work:
If i were to grow my plants, in pots of soil, watering them manualy, under the 400w Dual spectrum HPS lamp, and just not using the NFT thingy?
In theory(mine atleast) it would, right?
Ive been reading alot, ive suddenyl taken this urge to grow my own, and its definately a hobbie im gonna take up (so theres one more grower in the making )
Ill move onto the hydropnic wen i learn and understand how to set it up and how it works.
Currently i plant to grow maybe 4 plants in a cupboard (about 4ftx4ftx7ft), i've painted the whole cupabord brilliant white, i still need to vent it (problem is, the cupboard has brick wallas, and its gonna be difficult to cut holes in, so any solution for this would b most helpful!)
So yea, the question is, would i be able to grow under the light without using the NFT & would i still get a hal decent crop?

Yeah you can do the soil plants just the same, hydro is easier though.

Yeah like NGT said, soil work just fine. You should really learn as much as possible about hydroponics and NFT specifically, because you've already paid for it, so you might as well get your money's worth. So here's the basic idea to NFT:Esoteric Hydroponics - Nutrient Film Technique AKA NFT

hydro is all automated once you get your head around it.

Did you get any meters for checknig the nutrient and ph values?
