Default How to maintain a Mother
How to maintain a Mother

Ok here is my questions:
I have a G13 Diesel and managed to get a clone off her and am wondering what is the best way is to keep the clone as a mother plant.

I grow only hydro, so the clone is in a little hydro tank for now but eventually can go into a 5 gallon bucket or should I put it in soil?
I don't know if keeping a mother would be better in soil or should it stay in hydro? I never grew in soil before so...

How much light does it need to stay in veg and never flower? How much and how long should it stay on?

How long can a mother grow and never go to flower?

Anything else I need to know to maintain it in veg?

Thanks for any help!

why would you worry about keeping it as a mother plant??? Let it grow, take some clones, and then flower it. The strain lives on through the clones. grow those clones, take clones from them, and then flower those....and on and on and on. That's how we all do it.....At least I'm pretty sure that's how most of us do it. There's no need to keep a mother plant, as long as after you take clones you make sure that they root and are growing before you flower the plants they came from... Simple.

Just don't induce flowering on the mother.

You can do this as well....But again, why? You can keep it in a constant veg state....But it will always be growing. soon you'll have a monster plant that you'll have to prune back. Again, why bother??? Take clones. make sure clones are living. Veg the clones, and flower the mother....Continue with that cycle. Veg, clone, flower. Veg, clone, flower....

Nice clean answer. To tell the truth I didn't think of that, well maybe I did kinda, as I was thinking that cloning a clone would eventually make a shitty plant so thats why I wanted a Mother.

I plan to do the veg clone flower cycle and have a few question you might be able to answer. Whats the minimum lighting it takes to veg clones? What besides the light do I need? I only know a warming pad and clone gel, missing anything.

That wasnt a threadjack was it? I think it can help the op.

30W/square foot is probably the minimum required for any kind of speedy veg growth. 50W is a better bet.
