Hey guys a good friend just gave me a grand daddy purp and a snow white that hes had for a while. I will use these as mothers and take cuttings. The question is these are in soil pots right now and was wondering if anyone has experience converting dirt to hydro. I need to know if i should do anything other than get rid of the dirt and stick it into one of my flood n drain pots. +rep for info. The new Mommas are in the back in the pic.

How big are the plants that are in soil?

Wow! Yes it can be done! I have done this many times, but remember sometimes they live and sometimes they die. You will be stressing the plant big time. I would just keep them and take clones and make yourself some new mother's. But if you really want to try it let me know and I will try to help you as much as possiable

Yes, it can be done....But you have to be very careful. Trying to removes the soil from the roots can be a bit tricky. If the plants are larger than 12 inches, then I'd say don't bother. just take clones and go from there. It'll take you a little more time to start your hydro grow from clones, but in the end it'll be worth it. Especially when weighing the pro's and con's of it....that is to say insuring the strains live, or die. Cloning guarantees life (as long as you know how to clone correctly, which I'm sure you do). Good luck.
If the plants are small enough, then you can use a garden hose to wash away the excess dirt from the roots once you've gotten them out of the pots. make sure they are as clean as you can get them, and then transfer them to your hydro system....again, I'd suggest taking clones first (and make sure your clones are viable before doing this as well).
