Default do i need a water softner for ro unit

im using city water that is high in akalides and is very hard do i need a water softner? or can i just use the ro unit?

Should be fine with just the Reverse osmosis unit. Probly a good idea to add a DI filter after the RO.

What kind of RO are you using? just out of curiosity

Most ro unit makers tell you at what ppm hardness level they recommend you have a softener.

general electric three stage ro unit from home depo is this junk should i get something else? i paid 300 for it

three stage i think is over kill but your
water is fine just you get less gpm with
a three I use a single stage and it works
fine as for a softner test the water to see how hard it is then go from there.
