Default Ebb and flow table cover
Hi

I am wondering if having a cover on your flood table to stop the light getting on the water during flood time is that important. If I was flooding 4 times a day for 15 mins would it matter if I didn't cover the table?

Thanks for any info.

Its not the table you need to cover, its the area around the bottom of the plants , no light, no algae growth. VV

Hi Victor, what do you mean around the bottom of the plants? do you mean the tops of the plant pots or do you mean cover the table around each plant pot?

Thanks

yep, the top of the pots. What you are trying to do is block light from getting to whatever medium you are using. This will stop algae from growing there. H2O2 in the resevoir twice weekly will control it, and most other pathogens, and add oxygen to the roots. VV

You need to cover where ever there is standing still water present or water being expose to light such as wet rockwool.

i get like 1.5lb off of a 4x4 tray i hear that is really good im guessing if i cover up the rootzone or give the rootzone more growth maybe i can reach 2lb and that would be 1gram per watt or approxiatemently. I use 4x4 rockwool cubes btw. and 1k lighting

Any suggestions people if i should start covering mines up to acheive that 2lb mark?

Oh and i tried using clay pellets before and the roots were massiave after harvest but i still had 1.5 pound?

So is wasting your time covering those up really important?

Cheers Vic

I have been doing it the other way around. The ebb flow I bought came with a big piece of plastic which covers the table and I cut holes out for my pots. The trouble is if you want to add more or less or a different configeration of pots the big piece of plastic is no good anymore. I have not been covering the tope of the pots and right enough I have had mould for a fair way through the grow, not much I can do now about that but next time...... Am using H2O2 for the last couple of weeks. That stuff doesn't go far though does it at 5ml/ 10Litres twice a week.

Thanks

greengro,

that plastic cover can be used for something else, be creative get the fogger and turn your table into a large aeroponic system. And if u want to use h202 to keep your system clean and oxygenated get the grotek 35% and use 1ml per gal it works really well, alot better then the pharmacetical one.
