Question What Temp Is Your Water?
So i was just wondering what the correct temp is for your water to be at inside your totes when running 3 air stones and a water bump with 1/4inch feeder tubes to each net pot.

I happend to open mine up to see if any roots had started to form. only been 4 days so wasnt expecting any. but the water felt REALLY hot. i will look around for something to stick in the water to get a temp. but i feel it is far to hot.

What do you guys use or do to keep your temps controled? do i just drop a few trays of ice in there?

I have a hard time getting mine to 65 deg F. The theory is that from how I understand it, the lower water temps can hold more oxygen, which is important for the roots. Which is why 65 is the target.

Mine is typically around 73 deg F. I have a few water bottles I freeze and throw them in throughout the day and take the ones that have thawed and put them back in the freezer. That work ok for me.

I don't know if the dumping the ice tray into the resovuir is good cause that might throw off your ph, if you are concerned with that.

a better reason to have your rez cooler is if it gets to warm in there a jizz like film starts to grow on ur roots and you dont want that

most DO is held at 65-68, anything over 72 is asking for trouble, 75 is gaurenteed heartache, higher temps become perfect homes for pathogens. ice bottles suck, to chill an 18gallon tote you would need 2 x 2 liter bottles every 2 hours

just did i fast google on nano chillers wow those are costly lol. i think ill try the frozen water bottle idea thank you. my temps have got to be right around 90+ in that water.

And just outa curiosity what effects does haven hot water have on clones and starten there root systems?
My clones dont look like there doing any better then the day i put them in. i have small 1leter bottles over each as domes (couldnt find anything bigger) they seemed to support them selfs so i removed the domes and no more then 1 hour later they looked dead so i put domes back on.

on a side note its a 10 gallon tote and i am alrdy getting a film forming on all my 1/4 tubes. do i need to empty it out and clean it very well and start over with fresh water? atm i would only have tap water on hand.

if you cant control water temps then hydro is a no go, the water will take on the rooms ambient temp, or atleast if a room is 75F and the rez is shaded it will be around 73F, so if your room got an a/c and room temps get to the low 70's you should be good to go
