what air pump should i buy for a four five gallon buckets DWC system do i get one pump for every bucket or should i use two big ones. my air stones are 6in long and theres one in every bucket. or should i buy one big one

some brand info would be cool and how much air should each plant get thanks

If I were doing it I would want 1 pump and atleast 1 airstone per dwc.

What up Olds - You should take midgrade's advice on this one - at LEAST one airstone per bucket. I'd say, even with my limited experience, that one 6" airstone in a 5gal bucket is not nearly enough. And yeah, Petsmart's got a nice selection of airstones, but their pumps seem to be way overpriced. I was going to buy my airpump there, but ended up finding it quite a bit cheaper at good old walmart. I'm using a "Whisper" air pump - by Tetra, I think - rated for 30-60 gallons, with dual outlets, in a 6-8 gallon res. My plants seem to love it, and it was pretty cheap. I have to admit, I have no experience with other air pumps, but in case it's relevant, this one definitely does NOT whisper! Depending on how close together your buckets are, and if money/space/electrical outlets are an issue, you could buy 2 decent powered ones with multiple outlets, and split them off. Not sure what would be more of a hassle: having 5 separate small pumps, or 2 larger ones with a tangle of airhose and splitters, etc.... I'd wait to hear from someone experienced, and familiar with your type of setup. Good luck man, Peace

thanks guys to bad they dont make a airstone in the shape of a ring that would be good i have some 8in airstons but i thought the 6 would be good and i hop i can get two big pumps im running out of plug outlets yha do you guys know if your supposed to have the pump on all the time or on a timer i think its supposed to be on all the time but im not share

They do make flexible air stones that you can shape into a ring....

Yeah Petsmart was just an example for you.
There are a plethora of options out there.

I go for cheap and convenient.

This air stone is not a ring. But is round. It is nice, and put out a ton of bubbles if you have a strong enough pump. Check it out...
