Ive been growing for a few months now, and have learned alot along the way. I made my own aeroponic system and am currently on my third attempt, which is coming out beautiful compared to before. I have 6 clones right now under a 400 watt metal halide. I am planning on getting a bigger grow going now that i have some good experience. I plan on buying a 4x4 tent for flowering with a 1000 watt hps. Ive never grown clones before so i dont know how i want to do the grow. I like the 18 gallon rubbermaid roughnecks, which are 24x16. I can fit exactly 6 into a tent of that size, but wat i want to know is that if i grew 4 plants for each rubbermaid, how tall should my clones be wen i begin to flower? Im aiming for a SOG and want to keep my harvest time short and my plants short. Also, how much could i yield with an area of that size about 24 plants? Any input is greatly appreciated.

Whoops, my other question was that if i flowered my clones when they were about 6 inches tall? How tall would they get and how many could i fit into my total space?

The finished height really depends on strain, and their proximity to the lights. You should keep the lights as close as possable (without burning the plants) if you want them to be as short and dense as possable. However, with new clones using your 400w MH you should keep the light a good distance away (say 18 to 24 inches) so you don't burn the tender clones. Once they have developed roots, and started to grow a little, you can move the light closer. If your light is too far away it will cause the plants to stretch toward the light, and become tall and lanky. On average you can expect the plants to double or even tripple in size, from the point when you switch to 12/12 until harvest.

yea my clones sit far from the light i only let them get a little of it since my veg area is pretty big they sit somwhere where the light isnt strong. my clones are about 17 days old so theyve got good roots, ive been having new growth for about 5 days or so. the plant is pineapple kush i got from my buddy

24 plants sog at flower hight of 6 inchs is not sea of grean..for that space you would use somthing closer to 50 to 60 clones.... 127 in a full flood table is sog...4 by 8...so just half that...

id get a 4 by 4 table to put it in there ..or use one gallon pots...good luck...and make it hydro soo you dont have to be there all the time..or set up a drip setup with soil...

Thx for the feedback natural. So if i had 50 plants in there when would i begin to flower? And how much tall and wide would the plants be in the end, with yield and everything. Remember that its gna be a 1000 watt hps

i would scratch the whole rubbermade if i were you, only becausei have good intentions, thats a lot of work to change the rez out for 6 rubbermades, i think more than one is a bitch, but great for cloning, anyhows the tray system sounds perfect for your tent, my experience with a sog went 1 gallon square pots, they were 5 inches, i put 8 of these pots into a doubled up nursery tray (20inx10 tray) and had 5 trays = 40 plants...in the 1 gallon pots i finished them at 16-18 inches, i trimmed all the undergrowth away and "lollypopped" them, this way you end up with one nice fat main cola and the plants side branching wont be competing for space, thus enabling you to crowd many plants in there, plus the plant focuses all its energy on one cola, you can end up with 10-14 dry grams per plant at the minimum or even an oz depending on the strain, as for height if its indica heavy figure a clone started flowering at 6 inches will end up 12 inches or anywhere from 1-3inches per day for the first 2-3 weeks of the flowering period, sativas tend to go nuts and rise fast

Nice what kind of lighting are you using? I was thinking about the flood and drain but im a little confused about medium, what kind of pots, and the whole setup. My main concern is about the roots getting too dry. I agree changing the res is a bit of a hassle but i plan on having extra tubs so that i could prepare the solution before hand and then just throw in the lid, pump and manifold. I hope to connect all 6 pumps to a surge protector and find a timer that wont blow out

If you flowered 6 inch clones to get a fully grown plant 12-14 inches, how long would that flower take? It should be shorter period because its SOG right

the flower period is all strain specific, could be an 8 week strain like mine was, with a flood and drain table system you have options, very common is a 5inch net pot filled with hydroton play pellets, this allows you to move plants on the table around or until the roots get intertwined as for your rez changin method for the rubbermades, i do that too, it gives me a place to put the tray of plants on, but dragging tubs full of water sucks, hydro is supposed to be less labor intensive, its like dragging around bags of dirt, thats for the birds man, also for lighting i use a 1000w for a 4x6 space, i have height limitations and the plants directly under it suffer from light bleaching when getting taller, i would say a 600 is perfect so if you need to you can spread them out and they run much cooler
