Default Mixing different brands of nutes throughout a grow
Question to the community:

Must one stay brand-specific for nutes throughout various stages of a grow? I ask b/c I recently bought the Fox Farm line of nutes for a hydro grow (Grow Big, Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom). Only thing is, the Grow Big that I bought appears to be for soil...not hydro. And, of course, my local hydro store doesn't sell the Grow Big Hydro. So now I'm in a bit of a spot. I have no interest in ordering the Hydro Grow Big online and getting f'd in the a on the shipping. And my local hydro store does carry the Flora Nova line of nutes. So...do you think I could use the Flora Nova nute for veg and then switch to the Fox Farm (Big Bloom, Tiger Bloom) for flowering? I just started a new grow and am trying to figure this out.

Also, how do you nute-up the autoflowerers? I figured wait about 1.5 weeks, introduce veg nutes at low strength, then switch to flowering nutes at about the 3 week mark. Anyone have experience with these strains and managing the nutes given their rather bizarre nature of not really vegging and going straight into flower?

why mix anyways? and start all marijuana off on mild nutes and get them to full strength within a week of sprouting. i see many so called experienced growers showing of tiny plants after 2 weeks. nute them strong but start gradually and they will handle it. if you can get you plants double the size in the first couple weeks of what the average person grows you can shave off tons of overall grow time. good luck

Sweet. Thanks for the tips. All I ever read on these forums is no nutes first 2 weeks. It makes sense that they would just need to be tapered up from the get-go and they won't go into the plant version of shock. I'm definately gonna experiment with this as I'm sure I've lost tons off of my previous grow.
