hey zoob... If you leave those clones in the water to long.. won't they be difficult to transfer to soil..? I suspect this is true..because plants produce different kinds of roots when they are in water.. as opposed to soil... and well established water roots will suffer heavy losses in soil.... and if the plant has reached a certain point.. it can even die... at least suffer tremendous shock... have you had this problem at all.. ??? How long do you leave themin the water after seeing the first "legs".... BTW-- your roots look fantastic.. love |

I have a question if you don't mind: Was thinking of picking one of these up, my first time ...and need something simple....I want something in the <$200 range..I could build a grow-box myself I suppose...but this looks very interesting. Question: have you discovered what the other lighting settings are ? I can't seem to find any information on what the automated lighting cycles are for this thing. I've tried doing searches for lighting cycles for various plants (tomatoes, lettuce, etc..)...but can't seem to find any info. Last edited by Merciless_One; 11-10-2006 at 10:32 PM. |

Right, i didn't realise they were going to be transferred to soil. Seems a little counter-productive. Can't you just leave them in the tank? |

Ok..since it's fairly cheap and self contained, and I liked Tek's experience so far...I went ahead and ordered one of these. I plan on starting from seed in each of the 7 containers, from some unknown strain of really good stuff that I happened to find some seeds and thought to save them. I'm hoping that at least 4 of them will turn female. If I do get a male, I may continue to grow it and then polenate a few of the flowers on the females to keep the strain going (I don't have the setup or the means for doing the clones/mother plant thing). Anyway, after the plants have 3 nodes on them, I will top them (to try and manage the heights)...and then once each of the new tops has 2 nodes I will put them into flowering....this should hopefully put them at about 4-5" tall ..which should be a good height to start flowering, and by topping them, it will allow the seedlings the full 30 days to mature. I figure short and bushy is the way to go with this. I don't think I'll get much yeild..maybe 1/2 oz from each of the 4 plants if i'm lucky..but hell...I can't complain about that! I will try to do as Tek did, and post some progress pictures, and welcome the advice of everyone here! Wish me luck... |

Clones are easy. I do mine in a ceramic cookware dish, and cover it with cling-film. A couple of cheap household flourescents should do the trick. Rockwool cubes are cheap, and you don't even need cloning hormone. Just make sure they don't dry out and also make sure they have access to blue light. |

Brnpiper and Merciless one.... I am glad to see you have joined me in this venture.... I can't wait to see how all your set ups turns out, I love how each of you have your own Ideas and methods for growing with this machine, each different from the others.... This is great because then we can all compare notes on this thing and figure out the best way to grow with the aerogarden... Post pics and progress frequently please... I'll have updates in a couple days, But they are doing great and WHite hairs are starting to come out of everywhere!  Peace -Tek

hey, from a post from a while ago...the light setting is 17/7 but if you look at my post "aerogarden v.2" it will show how i put a new timer on the setup and it worked great. no splicing needed
