Default help with 2 plant hydro setup for sog grow
anyway im building a grow cabinet. 7 feet tall , 3 wide, 2 deep. anway im going to attempt a sog grow similar to al b. fuct's. except on a much smaller scale. anway i want to harvest 2-3 plants every 2 weeks. so im going to have about 8 plants total at once. 2 plants will be in each 2 week grow stage. so 4 stages of 2 plants all 2 weeks apart up to 8 weeks. anyway how can i go about setting up 4 small 2 plant hydro systems? i was thinking i would have to have each stage seperate because of different nutrient mixes for the different stages. or can i get away with just putting them all in one 8 plant setup? if i can put them all in one system and still get great results what system should i use? if i should put them into different systems which system should i use for that? thanks guys for all the help.

You can't run different stages of growth in the same res/nutes...etc. successfully. Something somewhere in the system will suffer..for sure.

With only 2 x 3 ft of space you aren't going to have a lot of room to do seperate systems.

good luck

Again...

your space limitations are going to make this hard to do...if it can be done at all.

Thoughts:

I don't see how you'll fit 8 plants in such a small space. That's less than a sq ft per plant. Plants that size will be low yielders.

And if you can do it...you'll waste weeks of time waiting for that staggering pattern to kick in that you could have used to flower out the entire room.

if you try it...they will all be in differing stages of growth and they will all be different heights. This will wreak havoc with light/light intensity. The light will have to be up above the largest plants...and the smaller plants will stretch for it. Either way it'll be very hard to regulate the growth of all of these plants at the same time under one light without burning one and starving the other for light.

A flat canopy....1-4 plant grow will yield you more and be less hassle, IMO.

I have no idea what system to tell you to check into. I can't think of anything hydro that comes in seperate components that is that small. You may have to rig something up yourself because this is completely different way of doing it than most folks would try.

good luck

i respect your opinion but i think it can be done . ive seen sogs with 1 plant per 8in. also correct me if im wrong, but the only difference between my plan and al b. fucts is that his is a larger scale and he uses 2 lights. 1 over 2 trays in different growth periods and 1 over 2 other trays in different growth periods. i was going to go with 1 250 watt hps for flowering in this cabinet. maybe if i did 2 shelves each with one 150 watt hps. then i could put weeks 1-4 on one shelf , and 5-8 on the othere. that way there is less of a difference in height and less plants to share the light. what you think"?

But is an eraser dude. You just erased the respect you tried to say you have for his opininion. He isn't saying don't grow in that area. What he is trying to do is point out the problems you are going to have with all the different plant heights.
I suppose if you wanted to you could make adjustment by putting them on seperate shelves. Sounds like a lot of work. Maybe, as btdt is suggesting, you would get the same yield by flowerign all of the plants at once, and then putting the clones you took into flowering. So go ahead and do it the way you think is best. I doubt you will get many intelligent responses to how you can set up Al B's system in that small of an area.
Oh, I almost forgot, how are you going to water them at these different hieght using a flood and drain system? Does the strain you are going to use flower in 8 weeks?

I think you are trying to create a problem because you like Al B's idea. i like it too, and have mine almost setup that way. I have dealt with different plant heights, part of learning I guess. Part of successful sog growing is having all the plants the same height, and that is the difference between what you are trying to explain to us and Al B's system. His system is set up to be easy, yours is going to be set up to make it hard. Big difference.
By the way, using his system I don't have to fim, lst, or move shelves and lights around. VV

nope, not trying to create a problem. just like the setup he has and the idea of getting fresh bud every 2 weeks. thought it could possibly be done on a smaller scale to suit my space. i guess i could just fit as many in the cab as i can, take clones. i guess i could go with 2 cabs with 2 shelves in each and maybe put one 150watt hps over each shelf. would that be worth it? or would it be better to put one 400 watt hps over as many plants as i could fit on one 3x2 shelf?
