so before I start, let it be known I am a newbie. everything I have learned has been through this site and a few others. every homemade item I have built has been a complete rip off of others peoples grows and systems. I figure copy success to be successful. I have adjusted and changed things to the way I like them. I am always finding flaws and looking for advice.

the journal in my sig was my first attempt. it went ok. I have a few journals on a different site, of other previous grows. they also went ok. (if anybody wants a link to them PM me) then I had a series of total fuck ups. burned up about $120 worth of seeds from nirvana.
I think I have worked out those issues, and ready for total success this time. with help from you pro's on RIU.

if you look through my old grows I have tried every system that I have found out there. homemade of course. drip, ntf, DWC, flood and drain. even adapted the cloner concept in five gallon buckets which worked very well. pain in the ass, but worked. so after a year of playing around I really like the aerophonics concept. I refuse to go spend the $100s of dollars that they want to charge for the systems that are store bought. and to tell the truth there is none out there that I cant build myself.

ok enough bullshit let me get to the facts.
the space
is about 4' x 5' x 7' for flower
2.5' x 2.5 x 7' for propagating and veg

the lights
2' 4 bulb T5s 96w total at 6500kea for propagation

a few cleaners and additives for salt buildup.

fans
the fan that pulls the air through the hood is a 6" inline duct fan. hoodexh.jpg
the rest are just regular fans. soon will add a can fan and filter when $ allow.

the systems
this is the system i built for cloning. just a hybrid of a tute on this forum and the power cloner. 396gph water pump, 1/2 PVC, and air pump with diffusers. cloner.jpg i use nothing for clones. snip and place in cloner. take about 5-10 days to get roots. here the tute i put together. - CLONER by Yelodrvr Marijuana Growing

this is what i call the torpedo. its inspired by earls shuttle. ghetto style. his is the shit. it is 6" PVC with a 3.5' lazer drilled spray line. there are also two air diffusers in the tube, along with 2 in the resavore. the pump 1/4 hp sump pump from big box hardware store. got tired of fucking around with the little pumps. althought the heat being put off by this pump might make me change pumps. we'll see. thetorpedo (Large).jpg

the climate
room temp 75f-84f
water temp about 78f having issiues right now. i have a hillbilly chiller made out of a cooler. might hook that up soon.
PH 5.6 - 6.5 is the swing i like to keep.
TDS started out at about 50ppm R/O for propagation and jumped to 200ppm for veg slowly working up to 400ppm - 500ppm. taking it easy right now. will step up little by little to 1500ppm

my bitches
i told you i fucked up all the seeds from nirvana. i had one left that is going now. it is skunk #1. it is obvious which plant is the engineered strain. the rest are bagseed.

these where germinated then placed in a dome under the T5s until i could see tap roots coming out the net pot, about 5-7 days. then to the cloner. for about 3 weeks. in the past i would veg for 5-6 weeks. i have decided to veg for a much shorter time. like i said before. copying success. keep them short for light penetration. hopefully i will see those tight compact buds this time instead of the fluffy shit.

well fuck!!! since i just started tonight with this new set up, i have been keeping a eye on it for leaks and shit like that. when i last checked the res temp was crazy. 37c what does that equate to in F? i think 70f is about 21c-22c. so 37 has to be around 100f. shit. glad i caught it right off the bat.

just threw a bag of ice in brought it down to 23c, PH and replaced the pump with a older pump. not as hard of a spray, but its no where as hot. i guess i need to go get a in-line pump tomorrow or a chiller.
pump $100 < chiller $350 = pump

ok pics with lights out. now you can see all the damage i did during veg. my research leads me to believe i should have started nutes much earlier. been working on the road lately so the neglect/laziness is my fault.

they look pretty bad right now. if you look at my first grow you will see one plant that was everything but dead and i brought it back to life. so these will be no problem. I HOPE!!! helll i am a pic whore so the last 2 pics are the dead brought back to life.

so after work I got the new pump. its a Sunleaves 1586gph. the spray pattern is not what I want. I would like to see lots more splashing and a finer mist, but this pump will have to do.

the area I use is a bathroom in the basement. I built a wall to divide the room. the half with the shower is where the flower room is. the shower is what is use for the veg room. before I had a separate cabinet for the propagation area. now I will build a shelf and use the bottom part of the shower for veg and the top for clone and seed propagation. to separate the flower room from the veg room I use a piece of Styrofoam wrapped in Mylar to divide the room and make it light tight when both areas are in operation.

the reservoir is now behind the wall. that room has a window that I open and push the cold winter air into the flower room with the fan built in the wall. with the reservoir being in this room now, it stays at constant 68f. even with the new pump submerged instead of in line. so that problem is solved.

here is a pic of the hillbilly chiller. hopefully I wont need it during the winter. and just maybe I can pick up a real chiller by summer. pretty self explanatory. pack with ice, run lines from res/pump to chiller, then chiller to the torpedo. the water cools as it runs thought the cooper tube packed in ice.

here is what the root shot looks like. never got roots like this with drip/ntf/DWC. when I used the same principle's in the 5 gallon buckets the roots would fill half the bucket.

these where germinated on 10/6.
sprouted on 10/9 placed in propagation tray with dome till tap roots pushed out the bottom of the 1in rockwool cubes on 10/17
put in cloner for veg till 11/10.
today day 2 flower.

these are not much different than yesterday, but i already mention i am a pic whore. you can still see the nute deficiencies. i did not really add much nutes until about a week ago. far to late.

Man they looking really good!! They just look hungry if anything, i had some plant that looked similar and it was because i wasnt giving them enough to eat. That is a steellar set up and what a DAMN MONSTER in that last pic, what did you grow that in? What striain was that and how did it smoke, what nutes you using??

thanks man. i agree with you that i was starving them. been slowly bringing the ppm up daily. right now its a 600ppm. just think i better take it up slow, try not to do anymore damage.

the plant in the old pic was at a friends house, in a smoke filled room, about 3 feet from a window. hence the first pic. it was just some bag seed dude threw in the pot. i had just got my lights and figured what the hell. took it home. the weed was not all that great. yield was pretty good. its was in soil when i got it. the nutes i have been using from day 1 till now are sunleaves rockwool formula one / part A and B. and some micro nutes. there is a pic of them up a post or two.

its all in the journal in my sig. lots of mistakes but it was cool to watch grow.

i was looking through some journals and came across this guy. his shit is amazing. i wish i had found this thread before i started. any way check him out.

Harvest a pound every three weeks!

he is running a PPM of 1500-2000. am i way off by only being at about 700ppm in the first week of flower? fuck thats almost 1/3 of what he runs.

thanks for checking me out guys. there are 6 plants total. the 2nd hole from the left is the skunk #1 i had left. the rest are bag seed. i think i am seeing some balls. that sucks. i will wait it out a few day to make sure.
