I bought the $15 one on ebay and it works great.
I am in the stages of needing a PH meter and was wondering what the best one for the money is ??? I have been looking at the Hanna but there are two different ones and I am a little confused. They have a model# 98129 and then they have a model# 98130 but they look exactly the same to me.
Can someone tell me what the majority of growers are using ????
Can anyone give a suggestion as to a GOOD ph meter to buy ???
Thanks for any and all suggestions.![]()

Expect to pay $120 + for a bona fide professional instrument. The kind with a replaceable tip.

if you want to get a good one and just buy it once in your lifetime and not have to worry about replacing it, spend $180 like i did, and get the hanna 98129. It is a pH, EC, PPM, and temperature all in one pen. It is highly accurate, and its very easy to calibrate. You can also replace the pH bulb as well. It has 1 and 2 point calibrations (but I always do the 2 point).
It looks like the 98130 is for high EC concentrations, much higher than the scale the growers use (it measures in part per thousands, we use parts per million!) So don't bother with that model. I personally really like my pen and it works great. The only thing that would be better would be some high-end chemistry lab equipment. Those could run several hundred to possibly thousands of dollars. So, as far as growing is concerned, the Hanna 98129 is about the cadillac of EC and pH testers.

This is the best combo IMHO. And considering the price I dont think you can beat it for a continuous meter.

I use the Oakton Ultrabasic. Really easy to use, accurate to within .1 pH and waterproof. It's all you need. $63 bucks here:
