I can't see why not, it will most likely cause unwanted stress on the plant.

u can go from dirt to hydro but not from hydro to dirt but y would u want to

You can do it but its a lot of work why not just start out in rockwool cubes and save yourself the trouble of having to wash the dirt off the roots and the potential plant shock.
