i have algae growing in my tank and i want to fix the problem but i do not know how much hydrogen peroxide to use i have a 5 gal tanki should add 11/2 oz of hydrogen peroxide right

up to 15 mls per gallon should be fine

you got algae growing in your tank because you got light getting to your tank,

stopping the light is a far cheaper option than hydro perox as that is some bullshit expensive game to play, that stuff needs topping up every 1 -2 days and if you got a big res then thats a lot of $$$$$$$$$$$$

I run 5 32oz bottle per week in a 55gal res, keeps it nice and fresh and its only $5 per week figure 3-4 weks veg 5 wks flower $50 max per harvest. not that expensive. considering how much things like hygrozyme cost. but I do agree with putting a lid or something on your res to keep light out. also sounds like your not cleanning enough.

so people do "supplement" with peroxide weekly or with every top off ? by supplement all i am saying / asking is that, it is added regularly instead of after a problem is noticed.

they actually suggest you top it up as often as you can, as much as every day if you can afford it,

if your using 5 32 oz bottles a week and its costing $5 a week, you must be getting each bottle for $1, what kind of grade is that your using?

i used it everyday when i would check ph and ppm even before i noticed algee on rockwool, then I drectly applyed it to algee and problem solved

well I have used the H2o2 that is food grade 37% and the 12% stuff at wall mart.
I like the 37% but I have to order it and the 12% seems to work just as good, just need 3xs the amount per gallon. and its 98 cents for 32oz. I just buy 20 or 30 bottles at a time.

I just think its an expensive method of adding oxygen,

if he covered his tank and used an air pump/stone he would do better than spending tons on hydrogen perox

90w air pump,

if electricity is 10 cents a kwh

then it is less than 1 cent for every hour you use it,

if you ran it 24 hours a day for 7 days a week it would use 168 cents

so it would cost you $1.68 per week
