You hang your plants first yes, at least i do. What happens is they will start to get pretty dry, you might think smokeable dry, yet when you put them in the jar the moisture still locked inside makes it's way out and moistens the bud back up a bit. The opening of the jar and moving around of the buds is a way to release the excess moisture so only the perfect amount is left in your chronic. Also, taking it all out is a bit of overkill i think, but I'm sure it wouldn't hurt... as long as you don't pack the jars and you can move the contents around a bit each time you open it you should be fine.

that is definitely a rotten bud yes it looks like bud rot to me good growing

I hung my plants for 10 days then put em in jars. I opened them up at least once a day. You can see the rest of the harvest from my sig.
