Im about to hang my budds to dry, should i cut all the exess leafeage off before drying?

Thats the way I prefer to do it. I think its a little easier with the leaves sticking out. You can get more leafy material off that way.

cheers im gonna cut all the bigger leaves off but just trim the smaller ones that ar full of crystals. Cheers for the reply

It's a lot easier to trim whie wet, I trim everything beofre drying.

otherwise u get leafy buds u have to pik the leaves out b4 u grind it lol unless u like the bitter taste of leaf lol.

Personally, I think it depends on the climate you live in. A slower, longer drying time is generally recommended; 7-10 days has worked well for me. In a very humid climate you could trim all the leaf material you want and still achieve a slow dry. In a hyper-dry or arid climate, a soda-can sized bud could dry to a crisp in under 3 days. Bud that dries too quickly doesn't smell or smoke as nice as slower dried stuff. Because I live in a very dry climate my drying process is as follows:

(With a humidifier running full time in the drying cabinet) I chop and hang the plants upside down, whole and untouched for 48 hours. Then I do a first trim chopping all the fan leaves and largest bud leaves and rehang for 6-8 days. Then I do the final trim chopping all the leaf material I can stand to remove in one sitting then the bud gets packed into glass mason jars for curing.

Trim away.....

place them in a dark place... i think that is key here. the first time i harvest mine i simply hung them in the grow room with my other growing plants. they smelled like mowed grass instead of chronic. I think this was from having them in there with the lights on. the chloraphyl continued to react with the light even though they were chopped down and I think this affected the odor and taste of my first batch. I've learned and this time around i go dark for drying and curing.

how long should you on average cure the buds in mason jars for? thats the only part i dont get
