Default Best method for drying/curing
Hey again everyone. Well, I just started my grow a couple weeks ago. I got eight beautiful girls stretching. I was researching drying and curing methods and found myself confused! What is the differnce between dring and curing? There seems to be so many ways for this. PLease help!

I thought I'd open the forum for the discussion on which method makes for the best "tasting" buds. Please speak from experience. No newbies helping a newbie ya know.

So then... Curing is for long term storage, Drying means smokeable for short term storage? And still the question would stand, what's recomended for curing, and or drying.

K Thx

I would say its more like, drying makes it smokable and curing develops the flavor (i think its to do with the breakdown and removal of Chlorophyll).

Peace out x

So if curing is for flavor, should i do that no matter how much i have or how much i have to store. Me personally, I only grow personel and smoke for fam. So I don't "store" anything really. But I would like better tasting green. So I should cure right? But what's the best method for the best "tasting" weed? Thanks for all the quick responses.

the best way to dry is to hang your whole plants upside down at room temp with good air circulation till dry (not crispy dry).

curing requires an airtight space, usually mason jars). Fill the jars with dried buds and store in a cool, dark place. remove the lids from the jars to replace the air inside a few times a day. you can keep your jars in the fridge. curing will improve flavor and potency.

curing is done after the stash has dried usually about two weeks then it is placed in an air tight container for curing the container is opened "burped" at least once a day to release the escaped gases and allow fresh air to enter the longer this is done before the stash is completely dried the better tasting and MORE POTENT the stash will be. the chemicals in the plant continue to metabolize and continue to mature but this process slows with dryness and stops when completely dry. some dutch growers just stuff plants in cardboard boxes and leave them there up to 4 months. be sure to open the containers frequently and check for mold or fungus.

So during the curing process; Should you wait till the buds are COMPLETLY dry? Or should you still be able to bend the stems? It seems if you stared curing when the buds were totally dry them in a month or so when your done curing wouldn't your buds be really crispy? Also, how much does the curing process add to the potency of the buds? Anyone got any acual figures on that?

thanks for all the quick help you all.

it will add a noticeable increase in potency. 5-7% water weight i think is around the norm for finished product. not necessarily bone dry. so much that it turns to powder when you brake it up, but for that you generally have to add heat to the drying process which will cause the essential oils of the plant to evaporate. not a good thing but 5-7 somtimes up to 10% water weight for dryed cured finished product. some spring left to the nugs but the stems should snap
