I don't know that much about soil, I had a lot of trouble that's why I moved over to DWC.

My plants are drinking loads at the moment, about 2 liters a day.
I think your plants should be drinking. I would be worried about water sitting in the pot for too long, it could drown your roots.
Is it possible that you over watered the last time?
