Ok, so I've read hundreds of threads and posts about when to harvest. i have come to find that there are two ways people use to know when to harvest.... trich's color, and percentage of hairs that have turned dark. My question: What method do you use, and why? and maybe a reason to use one method over another...hopefully this doesn't cause an argument. thanks

well looking at trichs is much more effective thats why I use it.

Some strains pistols will stay white even when they are ready to harvest, and some will turn all orange before harvest. my Purple widow had all orange pistols, but by looking at trichs I knew it wasnt quite ready. After waiting another 2 weeks, it sprouted more white hairs, and fully matured.

I tend to use a combination of both. The hairs give an early indicator then I watch the trichs once the hairs have first started to change colors

I have a microscope so I am going to use it for my first harvest, but was wondering if going by the pistils what percentage would everybody recomend for starting the flushing process, i'd say mine are about 10% orange. I know it will be different for different strains but do you think it would be a good idea to start flushing yet? The trichs are still clear...

Wait Till The Last 2 Weeks Then Flush.

yeah thats kind of what I need to know, how can you tell when you are in the last two weeks... I'm growing ak48 so it should be about 7 weeks, but my guess is mine will take longer cause I mistreated them for a week and a half.

I use hairs as just a general guideline, but always trichs for exactly when to flush.

I flush when most trichs are cloudy, with still some clear.

cool, how long do you flush for and what trich ratios do you end up with?

Good one. I use The scope but the " General look " is important aswell. I dont really use the red hair thing to unreliable. Really is a strain specific deal for me.

I am working with big buddha Blue Cheese and They dont really produce the trichs like the indica I am used to. So the look is useful right now.
