    AmScope 2000x! Anything else is Child's play! Haha, kidding. I went through jewelers loupes, followed by the 60-100x little hand-held chinese ebay crap, and finally decided to get something worth a damn. Yes, the 60-100x work, but so shaky and finicky. The AmScope is a real tool and does real work..

    sorry for the slight hijack but didn't see the point in starting another thread as this one is still fresh, would one of these be ok?

    Sorry, never saw this. Yes, those will work. Don't try to hold the specimen in your hand while viewing, LOL. Remove the leaf and place it on a black surface (if using the built-in LED lights). I still recommend something better, but these definitely work!

    Be careful with the "500x" usb microscopes. We also had one of those and they are really 100x with 5x digital zoom. Or something similar. You will not get 500x true magnification for the cost of those USB units. You always get what you pay for brother. Although the Amscope is 3x the cost, that's really nothing in the scope of years of usage considering the return as well.

    I still stand behind the AmScope...you will be blown away at the detail you can see and things you can inspect.

    AmScope looks a nice bit of kit, well out my pricerange at the mo tho, maybe a future consideration, I'll let you know how I get on with whatever I end up buying cheers
