They toughen back up during curing.

make sure the relative humidity in the room you're drying in is around 50%

Been curing 5 days still sponging they where nice tight nugs at harvest.RH was at about 45% secound time this has happen to me!!!!@WTF

When you say been curing 5 days do you mean hanging or jarred and the RH is at 45% is that in the room or in the jar?

Do you have a hydrometer the you can put inside the jar and measure the RH. They might need to be dumped out of the jar and air dried for a while then put back into the jar and continue to cure.

That happened to me before but it seems like xsavier hit it on the nose, maybe you should of dried em out a little more before jarring them too much moisture will fluff em up. Also there is a product called Gravity that I use during the last few weeks that really tightens/hardens the buds its made by humbolt county, and you can tell that it works because the buds become so heavy they have to be supported or the whole plant will fall over lol.

I have a RH meter there and I'm pulling them out every 8 hour to dry for about 30 min.
