Does Darkness Really Make A Difference?

Thanks in advance for your interest in this thread. If you have any wisdom to share I'd love to hear it. Here it goes...

I have a perpetual garden of 15 or fewer plants, and follow the law 100%.
My plants are in various stages of growth from new clones to crystalline mamas.
Veg lights: 8x T12s
Flower lights: 2x 600hps.
I like to run 3 strains and occasionally rotate out the one I'm bored of in order to try something new and cool.
Gogi OG and Purple Monkey Balls germinating this week, to go along with some other interesting strains.
Because of this I can't really do a whole shutdown for a week to guarantee darkness while chopping and drying.

So here is what I do instead:
On the day that I cut the plant, I hang my buds in the grow room.
They are 5-6 feet away from the lights and are exposed to ambient light while they dry for 3-4 days.
Then I place them in a dark closet in quart jars with no lids and check em every day, putting a lid on after 2-4 days and usually I can get the moisture level just right.
I know this isn't ideal, but am I affecting potency with the ambient light?
There is quite a lot of ambient light, and the temperature in there fluctuates from 63 to 88 on average.

If I build an elaborate small air tight ventilated dark drying/curing closet, will it really help much to make the medicine significantly better or just cause me lots of extra work?
I know my bud is really good, but I know it can be better.
I can tell that after 2-3 years of growing I'm finally getting the basics, but this seems to be the most difficult part of the whole system.

dam im lost i thought that was curing hanging them and putting them in jars for a few days
