Do you harvest when trichs are amber all over or if you see ANY amber trichs? I'm right at 8 weeks with White Widow Max and she has 10% amber only on one tiny leave set but majority of bud is still 70% cloudy / 20% clear. I'm starting to harvest a few to sample, but I'm curious what the rule is on trichs.

You want to get as close to 100% milky / cloudy trichomes as possible, since the THC will be fully realized and you will receive a harvest with maximum potency.
Amber trichomes are signs of degrading THC (into CBN) which will decrease the potency.
If you have 70% cloudy, 20% clear and 10% amber, you're on the cusp of peak harvesting for the plant.

I'll include a helpful guidance tool:

depends on the high you want more amber=couchlock and more cloudy=head high

That is incorrect, amber trichomes are in essence CBN (the degraded form of THC).
What determines wether you get a couch-lock high or an energized high is wether you grow Indica or Sativa (and in what ratio if you chose hybrids).

lately ive found that ive been cutting too early.

last plant i harvested, had no fanleaves left (just dropped them on its own)

all the leaves were brown, shriveled or palepurple (looking old)

but the buds, were this, sticky shiny mess, that makes you drool just looking at it..

sugary mess :)

took the plant about 2 weeks further than normally ("looked" ready then :))

..

now im not going to give exact advice, i cant, but according to this experience and some of what ive read.

if you are in doubt, whether you should cut now or not, wait at least a week (or 2)

it seems sucky to wait more.

but this sticky sugar mess thats making me drool right here is all the reward i need :) (plus they fattened up 25%)
