    Default Question about curing

    Hey

When you guys put your crop into the jar, does it smell weird for the 1st few days? I cant describe it.

I just cut down some blue rhino and I really want to slow dry it to keep the flavors and aromas. I only let it hang for 1.5 days before jarring it. They are very lightly packed.

Can I just open the tops and rearrange the bud as needed for a slower dry? As long as I watch for mold this should be no problem rite?

I think that's way too early to jar. At least wait 4-5 days. Are you keeping everything in the dark? At 1.5 days my buds would be wetter than heck, and probably smell funny too.

ya i would definitely wait longer to jar them next time...but i usually dump each jar out and let all the buds get even air for a cpl minutes for the first cpl days of curing then i just burp.

It takes a couple of weeks to start smelling normal.

You need to let the bud dry out, the smell & flavor will come with curing, I usually cure mine at least a month, although the buds are smokeable after a couple of weeks.

As wet as they are after 1 1/2 days, you better watch for mold, you are just asking for it.
    Good Luck

In my experience, a paper bag dries too quickly. Just lay it out in the dark with airflow in the general area, not on the buds.
